Beschrijving

Syntropic Food forest located in Central Portugal at about 4 to 500 meters above sea level in an intentional community as part of a larger valley developing informally as an ecovillage. The lines are south-north facing, they are deep using the hygekultur method as inspiration with biochar and sandwich layers of organic manure, wood shavings, green manure, leaves, cuttings, wood chips, rock dust, and locally sourced organic compost. It is based on pioneers, fruit, nut and native species trees with bushes, medicinal plants, climbers, and vegetables. The other upper half of the area is mainly for almonds, olives for oil, oaks and corks. We are developing the drip irrigation system and plan to expand to one third of the current size next year.
