Food Forest Entrepreneurship
On April 16, 2026, the “Food Forest Entrepreneurship” information session took place. The number of food forests is growing, harvests are increasing, and entrepreneurship is playing an increasingly important role.
In this session, we explored what goes into setting up a food forest. How can you generate an income from it? What revenue models are possible, what role does design play, how do you build a community, and much more.
Lots of practical tips from two experienced food forest entrepreneurs.

Joke Feenstra
For Joke, figuring out how to make a living from something is one of the most important questions she needs to answer before she gets started on a project. With a background in business administration and extensive experience in establishing and growing initiatives such as the Arbres cooperative and the Waalgaard food forest, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this session.
In her presentation, she walks us through the steps that the Waalgaard has taken, offering practical tips and suggestions to help us get started on our own.

Marieke Karssen
Marieke has been an entrepreneur for years and has been developing and expanding her own farm and food forest, Ferme de la Geneste, since 2022. She understands the challenges faced by food forest farmers better than anyone and deals with them herself on a daily basis.
Based on the questions posed in advance, this presentation answers questions such as where to start, the value of good design, which tools you can use, target audience and product selection, pricing, and much more.
A practical, honest account with concrete tips.
